Prevent Swine Flu

The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps can be practiced

1. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water or Listerine. *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive, and powerful preventative method.

2. Blow the nose hard once a day and swab both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water. This is very effective in bringing down viral population.

3. Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamins C and D. If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

4. Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

I suggest you pass this on to your entire e-list. You never know who might pay attention to it – and STAY ALIVE because of it.

DLSU Green Archers Coke from Jollibee

What a week! I thought I wouldn't survive! Its hard to get used to waking up so early in the morning again after so long.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I bought my bro a DLSU Green Archers coke from Jollibee. Its a promo item for the basketball association for the colleges. I thought it would be cool to get one and since they didn't have my school I got my brother's. Here is what it looks like.

If you want one, all you have to do is go to Jollibee and order a hamburger and fries meal...upgrade the drink and fries and you automatically get one of these 'university' cokes for free. Just tell them which one you like. There are many varieties.

French Fries Galore

It was the first day back to school for our new (last) semester. My classmates and I decided to have lunch at McDonalds. Since it was lunch time and the restaurant was crowded, we decided to find a place to sit first. That way we won't by left standing with our trays of food looking for a place to sit.

Anyway, since there was a lot of people it was a bit hard to talk. Sometimes we miss what people say; other times we misunderstand. And that's exactly what happened when we gave our order to the cashier.

You see, McDonalds has 3 sizes of fries. Regular-Large-Extra Large. Some of us ordered Large fries. Take note 'Large fries'. Large. Guess what we got?

Yup! We got more than we ordered. Apparently the cashier didn't hear our order correctly and gave us a 'Extra Large fries'!!!!!! No, we didn't get to finish it. It was too much. Yes, I love fries but even I have a limit on how much I eat.

Blueberry Tea Latte

I love the coffee machine at 711. They have lattes and cappuccinos. But the one I'm really interested in is the Blueberry Tea Latte.
I just love blueberry. It has a certain taste that I fell in love with almost immediately. Since I love blueberry so much I just had to try their Blueberry Tea Latte. But it took a while before I could do that. You see not all 711 stores had the said coffee machine and I didn't always have the money to buy the drink. Well, one day I did. And it was heaven!!!!! You didn't need to put sugar or cream into the latte. It had the perfect taste.
I'm going to go and get another one soon!!!!! Hope you will too!!!!

Storm Ondoy

Hello there everyone!!!! I hope you're all alright with the storm and all. I am grateful that at least it has stopped raining now. We've had enough down pour of water for a while.

I pray that the people who were forced to evacuate their homes will be able rise up from this disaster and go on. I also pray that people who are stuck in their homes (unable to leave due to the flooding) may be rescued and tended to.

They say that this storm -- Storm Ondoy -- is perhaps the worst storm we've ever had. Never have we seen flooding to this magnitude. I send my condolences to all those who have lost loved one to this storm. And pray that all those who are missing will soon be found.

Etchos

During our meeting with our adviser I saw some of my classmates making these really cool art work. They called it Etchos (I believe). Here is how you do it.

1. You choose your colors
2. On your paper, draw a box
3. Divide your box in sections (one for each color)

4. Color in each section with its designated color
5. Color it in thoroughly (you must hold your crayon straight not slanted)
6. When you color, it should be dark so it will work
7. When you finish coloring each section, use a black crayon to overlap the entire thing
8. Color over the entire box the same way you colored the others

9. When you're done coloring, draw your design
10. You're finished!!!!!!

Look below for some of the finished product. The name of each artist will be below their work. Mine will be at the very bottom.

Finished

Phew!!!! Finally, I am finished with my mini-thesis. Or rather we are finished. After all the trouble and obstacles we managed to survive. So to celebrate the achievement I went out for a drink! It was only for a short while, being tired and everything. After all, I hadn't gotten much sleep lately.

Well, here's to a good work well done!!!! Cheers!!!!

Tumblers

Good day to you all!!!!! I just got my self a new tumbler from Starbucks!!!!! Its for cold beverages. I was actually going to buy a coffee tumbler for hot beverages but I saw this one and fell in love with it.

It looks just like the cups that Starbucks use when serving cold beverages. Except this one is made of hard plastic with a lid that you can screw on. The straw itself comes with the tumbler. I still have my (old) coffee tumbler but I took the paper decor out. It kinda melted. Here's what it looks like now.

Starbuck Ice Cold Tumbler

I went to the gym at SM Southmall last night. I worked out for about an hour or two and then I went home. But as I was walking through the mall, I had a sudden craving for Starbucks coffee. I knew I was going to be in trouble for drinking coffee at night (I have insomnia and I was going to make it worst by getting a caffiene boost).

Anyway, I walked into Starbucks and saw their display of tumblers. My sister bought me one last Christmas -- it was blue and tall. For a long time I have wanted to buy a Starbucks tumbler. You know the small one that can fit a cup of coffee so that when I'm late and don't have time to sit down and drink coffee I can just use the tumbler and drink on the go.

When I had decided to buy a coffee tumbler I didn't have enough money so I ended up buying a coffee tumbler from SM. Its the same size as the Starbucks tumbler but a little bit bigger. I figured since I still had that tumbler I might as well keep using it until its no longer usable. So I went to get coffee instead. But somethng caught my eye.

On the shelf I saw a cup. Imagine the Starbucks cups they use for cold beverages except this one was hard.

I feel in love with it. Its durable, re-usable, and it comes with its very own straw. I must admit it was a bit costly (along with the coffee). But it was worth it. Now I can just fill this cup with coffee and pretend that I got it from Starbucks!!!! LOL!!!!!

Prayer for Corey Aquino

Let us all pray for the eternal repose of the soul of
President Corazon C. Aquino.
Below is a prayer for a Happy Death,
which Tita Cory has composed herself
in 2004 while she was still in the pink of health.
Prayer For a Happy Death
By Maria Corazon "Cory" Aquino
Almighty God, most merciful Father
You alone know the time
You alone know the hour
You alone know the moment
When I shall breathe my last.
So, remind me each day,
most loving Father
To be the best that I can be.
To be humble, to be kind,
To be patient, to be true.
To embrace what is good,
To reject what is evil,
To adore only You.
When the final moment does come
Let not my loved ones grieve for long.
Let them comfort each other
And let them know
how much happiness
They brought into my life.
Let them pray for me,
As I will continue to pray for them,
Hoping that they will always pray
for each other.
Let them know that they made possible
Whatever good I offered to our world.
And let them realize that our separation
Is just for a short while
As we prepare for our reunion in eternity.
Our Father in heaven,
You alone are my hope.
You alone are my salvation.
Thank you for your unconditional love,
Amen.

How To Stay Young

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight, and height.  Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. (Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop."  And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.  And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with him or her!

 6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is yourself. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:  Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

And if you don't send this to at least four people - who cares?  But do share this with someone.

"Have a Patience and Positive approach towards your goal that will lead you in the way of success... "

REMEMBER ...
The shortest distance between a problem and a solution
is the distance between your knees and the floor.
The one, who kneels to the Lord,
can stand up to anything.

Foot All Better

I just wanted to blog about this since I am soooooo happy about it. What is it you ask?

Well, for a while now I had some rashes on the sides of my feet. They were really itchy and they bleed. Sorry to gross you out and all, but that's how it was. Why did I have them? You see I have exzema. At first when I was little I had asthma, then it became asthma of the skin, now its exzema. It was really troublesome when I was little and it was when it was really bad. I had to avoid certain things like food -- our dog (it was the hair that made my skin irratated). I use to have allergy outbreaks all the time. I'd get rashes on my elbows, knees, on the back of my neck. There was even a time when I got them on my face!!!!

Hey now!!!! I wasn't hideous or anything. It was just three small rashes at certain areas of my face. My nose, lower lip (small portion) and left side of my chin. But they're all gone now.

Nowadays, I have to careful. I don't have anymore of 'those' rashes but I do get the occasional bleeder. What's that you ask? Well, its an area of my skin that got irritated and I (sigh) scratched it and it bled. Just a little bit though!

Anywhoooo, back to the topic on hand. Like I said, I had rashes on my feet for a while now. I tried various creams and ointments, but none of them really worked. At one time my dermatologist suggested injects for my foot. I went rigid at the thought. I'm not afraid of injections or anything like that but on my foot!?!?!?!?! Naturally I said no at first...but some time after Christmas I caved. So I went to the doctor and had my foot injections.

What happened? Low and behold......

My foot healed!!!!! As you can see the rashes are gone!!!!! The small spots you see are remnants of the rashes that I use to have. They're scars. But as the doctor said, they will fade in time.

Well, that's all!!!!!

For Taxi Riders In Manila

PLEASE BEWARE!

Just to give you a warning, avoid riding cabs with names like Wallis, Romcat & Lucky8.

All these taxis are owned by just one family and most of its drivers are muggers, rapists or simply swindlers.

According to the driver who is the source of this information, he used to work for the said company but lasted for only 2 days since he couldn't bear the idea of "manggagantso".
He said there is no single unit of this company that doesn't cheat. Each and every car that they own has "batingting" that is used to manipulate the taxi meter.

Further, the driver also informed that the owners hire anyone even if the person has a criminal record. As a matter of fact, the owners are fully aware of their drivers' misconduct yet they turn a blindeye on it coz what matters most to them is the boundary of their drivers that's to be given to them at the end of the day.

He also said that prior to leaving, he found out that one of his co-drivers mugged his passenger and even touched her private parts. When the passenger filed a legal complaint about it, naturally the driver got apprehended but was released because of bail.

Immediately the next day, the very same criminal was hired back by their company and was out driving his unit again.

He said you will be able to recognize the taxi units of this company even at night since their taxi logos on top of their roof have a unique lighting. Instead of the usual yellow light on the "taxi" sign, theirs are red. Prior to writing this, there was a research about the taxi company and it was found out that they have been featured in one of the shows in GMA-7 (Imbestigador). Indeed they have proven that the drivers of this company are swindlers and muggers.

If you care about your family, friends, co-workers, classmates And other people close to you, pass this information along. We can never telll who their next victim will be.

WARNING!!!!!!

ALL FAMILY MEMBERS SHOULD READ THIS ESPECIALLY CHILDREN!!!

1) These crooks are getting very good!

A lady has changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile telephone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her mobile telephone, credit cards, purse, etc...etc...was stolen. Twenty minutes later she called her husband from a pay telephone telling him what happened.

Her husband said, "I have just received your text asking about our pin number and I have replied a little while ago."

When they rushed down to the bank, the staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen mobile telephone to text her husband in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within twenty minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Mom, Dad, etc... And very importantly, when sensitive information is being asked for through texts CONFIRM by calling back.

Also, when you are being texted by friends or family to meet them somewhere be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you do not reach them, be very careful about going places to meet 'family and friends' who texted you.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON.

2) Just last weekend on Friday night we parked in a public parking area. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home, it was a receipt for gas. Luckily my friend told me not to stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the car. Then we received this email yesterday:

"WARNING FROM POLICE"

This applies to both women and men. Beware of paper/s on the back window of your vehicle--new way to do carjacking (not a joke).

Heads up everyone! Please keep this circulating. You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into Reverse. When you look into the rear view mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.

When you reach the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car. And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money and your keys. YOUR HOME AND YOUR WHOLE IDENTITY ARE NOW COMPROMISED.

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this. I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.

Twilight

Woohoo!!!!! I finally got it!!!!! I finally got the Twilight DVD Special 2-disc Edition. I can't believe it.

I'm going to watch it right away!!! Its supposed to have behind the scenes footage, videos on how the cast got their parts and more!!!!! When the other 3 remaining movies come out: New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, come out...I will get them too.

Falling Green Mangoes

You'll never guess what happened to me. LOL!!!!

I was walking home tonight after going to Ruins. I walked under this Mango Tree and I suddenly heard a rustling noise. I look up and a mango fell from the tree! I thought it was going to hit me so I threw my hands up and caught it! I was marveling at the coincidence since I was craving green mangoes that very time. While I was marveling another green mango fell from the tree and this time, it hit me on the head! I was distracted with the first falling green mango that I didn't notice the second one.

Here are the two mangoes. It was the smaller of the two that hit me on the head.

Snack

Yesterday I went to the mall to go to the gym. But I was unable to workout because I discovered a hole in my jogging pants! It woud've been okay if the hole was on the side, but it was near the *beep*! So instead of working out I walked around the mall for about 4 hours. Why? Well, my family was coming to the mall because they had to buy something there...and I didn't want to commute home.

Anyway, while waiting I went window shopping and I ate at Dunkin' Donuts!!! They have these pancake donuts that are absolutely delicious! I hope to have some more (minus the syrup...I'm trying to loose weight here!).

George Carlin

George Carlin at age 102: (Absolutely Brilliant)

IF YOU DON'T READ THIS TO THE VERY END, YOU HAVE LOST A DAY IN YOUR LIFE. AND WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED, DO AS I AM DOING AND SEND IT ON.

George Carlin's Views on Ageing Do you realise that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about ageing that you think in fractions.

'How old are you?' 'I'm four and a half!'

You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five!

That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. 'How old are you?' 'I'm gonna be 16!' You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life .... .. You become 21.

Even the words sound like a ceremony. YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!! But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.

Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away..

Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would! So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime.

And it doesn't end there Into the 90s, you start going backwards; 'I Was JUST 92.' Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. 'I'm 100 and a half!' May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next country; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER : Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that
take our breath away.

After Bruise

Hey guys! Do you remember the injury (bruise) I got from playing volleyball? Well, here is what it looks like a week after the games.

It doesn't hurt anymore, but it sure looks colorful!

Sports Fest!!!!!

Good day to all!!! On the weekend our Prayer Community had its annual Sports Fest. Thank god it wasn't as hot as it was last year.

Anyway, we played Relay games, girls and boys Basketball, Badminton, and mixed Volleyball. It was so much fun. Everyone enjoyed themselves. But like playing any sport one gets injured. We had people getting hit with the ball in the face and on the head; people falling over because of cramps (at their legs); and sometimes people get cut. I myself got injured during the Sports Fest. It wasn't anything major but it still hurts. I was playing Volleyball, I hit the ball but for some reason my hand hurt like hell after. It seemed that I hit the ball so hard that I bruised my palm.

You can see the difference between my two palms.
You can see the dicoloration and swelling of my right palm.
I've never had a bruise here before.
Wow!!! Its big!!!!

The Things We Take for Granted

April 29, 2009
The Wonderment of Life
Most of us begin our days with a continuous list of things we need to do to keep our lives running smoothly, but we rarely take time to note all the things we don’t need to do. For example, we don’t need to figure out how to breathe. We don’t need to find a way to make sure the earth continues to revolve around the sun. We don’t need to concentrate to ensure that our heart beats and our cells regenerate. All of these things, and many more, take care of themselves without our having to think or do anything at all. This is the miracle of life on earth.

Beyond the wonder of the natural world, we have the wonder of human-created conditions such as indoor plumbing, electricity, automobiles, airplanes, telephones, and the Internet to name a few. Someone living just a hundred years ago would be overwhelmed by the ease with which we can communicate with people all over the world. Every day, millions of us jump on airplanes and fly to distant locations in a matter of hours. If we have access to a computer, we can read obscure information about any subject, free of charge, at any time of the day or night. And yet, it’s only when one of these miraculous inventions fails that we notice it at all.

When you wake up tomorrow, take time to notice how many things are running smoothly, how many small miracles compose your day. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, as you put them on, take a moment to appreciate the fact that without them, you would be unable to see. Your life would be entirely different if someone hadn’t invented corrective lenses. As you take in your world, you might feel a moment of gratitude for the basic fact that, once again, the sun has risen to illuminate the abundant earth, and the earth’s gravitational field holds you and all that you hold dear in a tight, life-affirming embrace.

My friend sent this to me and I just had to share it with you all. This is sooo true.
