BREAKFAST!!!!!!

Xmas List...?

With Christmas just a few days away, you'd think by now I'd be done with my Christmas shopping, right?

WRONG!

Due to my overwhelming concerns in life, (I won't mention what they are, since there's too many ; )-) I found myself so busy that I completely forgot to do it! I knew Christmas was just around the corner LITERALLY, yet I did not make a list! I didn't make a list because I didn't know what to get people! And there are new people that I will adding on to that list too!

Aside from not knowing what to get people and adding more people unto my list; I also have to save up money for a trip abroad!

Oh my! Oh my! How much should I spend? What gifts should I buy? Who should I give?

Aaarghhh!!!!! Its a good thing I have thick hair or else I would've lost all of my hair since the start of December!

Well, I'll think of something! I always do!

Wish me luck!!!!

Supermarket...Goodies?

The other day we went to the grocer store to stock up on food. Like always we would split up. I would go for the coffee, creamer, eggs and more. While the others would go for the poultry, beef, pork, fish and more.

Well, as I was strolling through the aisle I came upon the Chocolate section. I figured, since I was there and I have been working so hard, that I would get myself a snack: Chocolate. So I looked through the selection of chocolate that they had and came upon this...

This made me change my mind about getting a snack.

Now as you can see, the chocolate is wrapped in a plastic wrapper (squint your eyes to see the plastic). If you would focus your attention to the upper middle part of the chocolate, you would see teeth marks (look at the picture below to get a better look).

Now knowing that the store wouldn't put food products that have teeth marks on them on the shelf, I can safely assume that this was done after they had put the chocolate on the shelf. The question is, who or what made the teeth marks.

Based on the shape of the teeth marks and the indentation of the teeth, I can definitely say that a child made this. Perhaps a baby. Maybe, he/she had managed to get their hands on it and put it in their mouth. I mean, come on. Its the only logical explanation. Being embarrassed, the parents immediately put the chocolate back and walked off.

Right?

The English Language

As a language English
is very confusing!
Speech Marks and Full Stops/Periods
"Hi!" she shouted. NOT "Hi!" She shouted.

"It's a flying pig." she muttered. NOT "It's a flying pig." She muttered.

1) There is no such word as "alot."

2) One does not go to the store "everyday." It's "every day." "Everyday" is an adjective, meaning that something is used or fit for every day, common - "an everyday occurrence."

3) Don't put quotation marks around everyday words.

4) An apostrophe is never used with a personal pronoun; therefore you shouldn't write "The movie bored it's audience," but "its." It's true! (In that little sentence, the apostrophe takes the place of the missing letter "i"). Similarly, it's incorrect to write "Who's book is this?" Or "The fault was their's."

5) "Pick-up" and "check-out" are not verbs. You "pick up" a sailor or "check out" a library book. No hyphen. "Pickup" without the hyphen is a noun. It's the jolt you get from a bracing cup of Earl Grey. "Checkout" is the time at which a lodger must vacate a room, or a counter or area in a store where goods are checked out.

6) "Thank you" is not one word!

BEAUTIFUL VERY BEAUTIFUL
This is a story worth educating children with
(x3)

Tuesday, 12th May, 1992
A woman steps out of her house in Jerusalem
Normal standard day
nothing special like any other day
A load of kids in the streets –
there was a teachers’ strike
Same time exactly a revolting terrorist
Pulls out a kitchen knife
and with it stabs two innocent kids
Another mad cruel attack
Another nationalist attack

He sets off running
because a mob is in pursuit
And catches him after a few seconds
in the carpark
tens of people kicking him –
they want to close the score
I don’t judge them,
it’s an irrational event
It’s a flawed situation,
awful, revolting, unclear
But then turns up the woman
and alters the end of the story
because she straight off throws herself
on the terrorist andprotects with her body
the terrorist who is also a human
though without her body
would have ended up a corpse
"I don’t understand,
weren’t you afraid
with that madman beneath you
and the mob so close?
"Wouldn’t it have been easier
to get up and leave?"
She replied to the journalist
that she didn’t have time to think.
She replied to the journalist
that she didn’t have time to think.

Bella bellissima...

That incident with the woman
is engraved in my head
Where did she get the strength to lie there
without moving, without fear
I ask myself what I would have done in her place
If at the same moment I had been in the area
It’s clear to me
that I wouldn’t have gone over to boot him
But to be fair and to tell the truth
I don’t think I would have been capable
of behaving like her
Much more typical for me to get up and run away
Or at the most to try
to find a policeman or something
But she lay there until her strength waned
20 minutes she took all those kicks
Her kids watched and didn’t stop crying.

Bella Bellissima…...

This lady did not turn into a symbol
And in effect her name
has been erased from consciousness.
There is no stamp with her face
Perhaps because Israel is not yet ready
and is not willing
To bring to its breast a hero
whose heroism is not war-like, a hero
whose heroism is not military, a hero
whose heroism is just moral
a hero who is a woman, and a haredit at that.

Know this, dear woman, that I did not forget
The story of your heroism I promised to myself
That this story is worth educating children with
It’s a story that is worth
educating children with

Pediatrics report details risks from energy drinks

By LINDSEY TANNER, AP Medical Writer  Mon Feb 14, 12:02 am ET

CHICAGO – Energy drinks are under-studied, overused and can be dangerous for children and teens, warns a report by doctors who say kids shouldn't use the popular products. The potential harms, caused mostly by too much caffeine or similar ingredients, include heart palpitations, seizures, strokes and even sudden death, the authors write in the medical journal Pediatrics. They reviewed data from the government and interest groups, scientific literature, case reports and articles in popular and trade media.Dakota Sailor, 18, a high school senior in Carl Junction, Mo., says risks linked with energy drinks aren't just hype. Sailor had a seizure and was hospitalized for five days last year after drinking two large energy drinks — a brand he'd never tried before. He said his doctor thinks caffeine or caffeine-like ingredients may have been to blame.

The report says some cans have four to five times more caffeine than soda, and Sailor said some kids he knows "drink four or five of them a day. That's just dumb." Sailor has sworn off the drinks and thinks other kids should, too. The report's authors want pediatricians to routinely ask patients and their parents about energy drink use and to advise against drinking them. "We would discourage the routine use" by children and teens, said Dr. Steven Lipshultz, pediatrics chairman at the University of Miami's medical school. He wrote the report with colleagues from that center. The report says energy drinks often contain ingredients that can enhance the jittery effects of caffeine or that can have other side effects including nausea and diarrhea. It says they should be regulated as stringently as tobacco, alcohol and prescription medicines. "For most children, adolescents, and young adults, safe levels of consumption have not been established," the report said.

Introduced more than 20 years ago, energy drinks are the fastest growing U.S. beverage market; 2011 sales are expected to top $9 billion, the report said. It cites research suggesting that about one-third of teens and young adults regularly consume energy drinks. Yet research is lacking on risk from long-term use and effects in kids — especially those with medical conditions that may increase the dangers, the report said. The report comes amid a crackdown on energy drinks containing alcohol and caffeine, including recent Food and Drug Administration warning letters to manufacturers and bans in several states because of alcohol overdoses.. The report focuses on nonalcoholic drinks but emphasizes that drinking them along with alcohol is dangerous. The American Association of Poison Control Centers adopted codes late last year to start tracking energy drink overdoses and side effects nationwide; 677 cases occurred from October through December; so far, 331 have been reported this year.

Most 2011 cases involved children and teens. Of the more than 300 energy drink poisonings this year, a quarter of them involved kids younger than 6, according to a data chart from the poison control group. That's a tiny fraction of the more than 2 million poisonings from other substances reported to the group each year. But the chart's list of reported energy drink-related symptoms is lengthy, including seizures, hallucinations, rapid heart rate, chest pain, high blood pressure and irritability, but no deaths. Monday's paper doesn't quantify drink-related complications or deaths. It cites other reports on a few deaths in Europe of teens or young adults who mixed the drinks with alcohol, or who had conditions like epilepsy that may have increased the risks. Maureen Storey, senior vice president of science policy at the American Beverage Association, an industry group, said the report "does nothing more than perpetuate misinformation" about energy drinks. Many of the drinks contain much less caffeine than coffee from popular coffeehouses, and caffeine amounts are listed on many of the products, she said in a written statement.

Caffeine is safe, but those who are sensitive to it can check the labels, she said. A clinical report on energy drinks is expected soon from the American Academy of Pediatrics that may include guidelines for doctors. Dr. Marcie Schneider, an adolescent medicine specialist in Greenwich, Conn., and member of the academy's nutrition committee, praised Monday's report for raising awareness about the risks. "These drinks have no benefit, no place in the diet of kids," Schneider said.

Ten Commandments for 2011

Someone has written these beautiful words. One must read and try to understand the deep meanings in them. They are like the Ten Commandments to follow in life all the time.

1] Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble; it is a "steering wheel" that directs us in the right path throughout life.

2] Do you know why a car's WINDSHIELD is so large & the rear view mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, look ahead and move on.

3] Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

4] All things in life are temporary.  If going well enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong don’t worry, they can't last long either.

5] Old friends are like Gold! New friends are Diamonds! If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because to hold a Diamond, you always need a base of Gold!

6]  Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end!

7] When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities.

8] A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything  worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision."

9] When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them; and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.

10] WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES; it takes away today’s PEACE.

113 Korean students stranded in Philippines

*I couldn't believe this when I read it!*
More than 100 Korean children studying English in the Philippines had their passports confiscated by Philippine authorities earlier this month, and 70 of them are facing deportation, local media and Korean sources said yesterday.

The Philippine Inquirer and ABS-CBN, a broadcaster, reported that the country’s Bureau of Immigration would expel 70 Korean minors studying in the country without permits and put them on its blacklist, meaning they will have difficulty getting back into the country in the future. Seven Korean adults allegedly responsible for arranging a study course in the Philippines will receive the same penalty, they reported.

Reports said the 77 Koreans facing deportation were rounded up by immigration officials on Jan. 7, storming a Korean-operated language center in Batangas, south of Manila.

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul confirmed the report. “The children did not have special study permits, which they should have applied for, to study in the Philippines,” said an embassy official.

The sources said 43 more Korean children studying at another language center in the Philippines, along with seven Korean managers, were rounded up later by immigration and also had their passports confiscated.

According to Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the 113 Korean students remain at residences affiliated with the centers, but the 14 Korean adults are being detained at an immigration office in the Philippines.

A ministry official said the Korean language centers are to blame, not the students. The language centers were supposed to pay about 150,000 won ($134) per student to apply for special study permits for the children, but they didn’t, he said.

“Because the Korean students are also the victims, the Korean Embassy requested authorities to return the passports soon and allow the students to leave the country,” Korea’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said Philippine authorities said they would allow students to leave by the end of the month. Observers said more crackdowns on English teaching classes in the Philippines are likely. Many Korean parents send their children to the Philippines as a cheap way of studying English.
